Richard Branson was born to be a billionaire.

He founded his own magazine at the age of 16 and then made his early cash selling records out of the boot of his car. With an eye for how to make money out of what was funky he then set up a new chain of record stores and the name Virgin was soon known to just about everyone in the Western world. Virgin Records signed up the Sex Pistols and Faust when probably no one else would have and earned themselves some cool points in the long run.

All the Virgin megastores have closed now though, not that Branson need worry as he sold the chain for a billion some years ago to fund Virgin Airways. Ahead of the curve, Branson now pledges to invest in an environmentally-friendly fuel, having been convinced that the earth really is in trouble after chatting to Al Gore. Leave it up to the entrepreneurs to save the world, for sure the hippies won’t get round to it.

Richard Branson’s Twitter feed plugs his airline a lot as he just flew around the world in 8 days on Virgin but he does some Q&A sessions with his followers.
