John Cleese is one of the pillars of British comedy, almost a sacred figure to the English. Still, just say ‘don’t mention the war’ and everyone thinks of the Fawlty Towers episode where he struggled unsuccessfully not to bring up WWII to a German guest at his hotel.

An original member of the Monty Python team, the comics who revolutionsed British comedy with their surreal, anarchic humour. epitomised in films like The Holy Grail and The Life of Brian.

John Cleese came into his own right with Fawlty Towers and the film A Fish Called Wanda where his lanky British awkwardness touched a nerve worldwide.

John Cleese on Twitter isn’t very funny though, not many comedians are off-screen.

The search for God has always occupied humanity and though some have claimed to have communicated with God via burning bushes, angels and those instructive voices in the head, trust Twitter to put us finally in touch with the Creator.

God is of uncertain age and whilst he blazed a trail for himself 6000 or several billion years ago, depending on your belief system, it must be admitted that he hasn’t done much since. He wouldn’t be the first creative to hit a dry spell and it’s to be hoped that he’ll be back in the flood, thunderbolt and plague business soon.

God’s Twitter feed is a lot of fun, expressing his disappointment in the Pope who still hasn’t fathomed the link between condoms and AID prevention. Still God is a jealous deity and his humble following doesn’t come close to that of Barack Obama’s. So he pledges that he ‘wants to hit 10k followers today. I know, it’s vain, but I’m god. Please RT and I’ll throw in 3 more sunny days this summer.’

So even if you’ve lost religion, there’s still time to follow God – on Twitter.
