David Lynch’s films have gone a long way to making all of our lives that little bit more spooky and surreal.

Whereas some of this films follow a more or less linear plot that, although thoroughly disturbing, such as Blue Velvet, it’s not too much trouble to understand the story, other Lynch movies leave the view quite confused and unsettled. Films like Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive follow their own logic and stunning directing, acting and originality aside, they’re hard work to make any sense of.

In Lynch’s own words: “life is very, very confusing and so films should be allowed to be so, too.”

Perhaps though it’s Lynch’s long running TV series, Twin Peaks that guaranteed the cult status of his work and perverted many an otherwise normal adolescence.
