Oprah Winfrey pushed Ashton Kutcher to be the first person on Twitter with a million followers and it’s a fair bet that she’ll probably amass more than anyone else if she continues to Tweet herself.

For some years now it has only taken the famous Oprah endorsement for a book to become a best seller, a movie to have commerical success of even for someone to become president. We’ve written to Oprah asking her to endorse Twitterists.com so fingers crossed.

Poor guy.

Wil Wheaton’s acting career looked promised when he starred in the iconic coming of age movie, Stand By Me, but then came Star Trek the Next Generation and he became the most hated actor in sci-fi for the smarmy and squeaky-clean character, Wesley Crusher, that he interpreted. The hatred went to such extremes that usergroups were set up entitled alt.ensign.wesley.die.die.die.

Poor guy.

The fan hatred discouraged him from attending the Trekkie conventions but he found a new lease of life with the internet and has become something of a celebrity among geeks, talking about his passion for gaming and running discussion boards to chat about various topics and has been geek-in-residence for various online magazines.

Wil Wheaton’s Twitter feed shows that he’s just an ordinary guy who likes to chat on the net, swear at his favourite ice hockey team and occasionally do a bit of acting. Wesley Crusher may have been one of the most irritating characters to ever appear on television but Wil Wheaton is really ok.

Brooke Burke understood the quick route to fame – if you don’t have talent, connections or luck, then you can always make use of a stupendous body to pose for Playboy, Maxim, Stuff and FHM and get the eyeballs of the world through that overworked second chakra.

Since then Burke has become a television star, hosting talent shows, she’s lent her face to computer game personalities, she’s done home fitness videos (Jane Fonda – just what did you start?) and, in short, is wanted almost as much by television as she is by every male reader who drooled over her naked pictures.

Brooke Burke on Twitter Tweets about her family life, her kids and titbits about her professional life. She sounds quite normal, really.

John Cleese is one of the pillars of British comedy, almost a sacred figure to the English. Still, just say ‘don’t mention the war’ and everyone thinks of the Fawlty Towers episode where he struggled unsuccessfully not to bring up WWII to a German guest at his hotel.

An original member of the Monty Python team, the comics who revolutionsed British comedy with their surreal, anarchic humour. epitomised in films like The Holy Grail and The Life of Brian.

John Cleese came into his own right with Fawlty Towers and the film A Fish Called Wanda where his lanky British awkwardness touched a nerve worldwide.

John Cleese on Twitter isn’t very funny though, not many comedians are off-screen.

Jonathan Ross is a staple of British TV, presenting long running series like They Think It’s All Over and Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and keeps himself in the media spotlight by occasionally going over the line, such as when he asked Conservative leader David Cameron “Did you or did you not have a wank thinking of Margaret Thatcher?”

The media also like to pick up on what Jonathan Ross is paid by the BBC, supposedly a public body, that reportedly pays Ross around ^ million pounds a year. So when Ross hosts charity events like Comic Relief it’s not really that funny.

Jonathan Ross’ Twitter Feed seems to mostly be full of conversations with fans so that’s kinda nice. Maybe he’s okay after all.
