Russell Edward Brand describes himself as an S&M Willy Wonka and that makes him a good deal of fun to start with. With a healthy history of drug addiction and general trouble making under his belt Brand is a breath of fresh air in mainstream media.

Russel Brand got himself fired from radio station Xfm for reading pornographic material on the air and then along with Johnathan Ross got himself fired from the BBC after a series of prank phone calls to actor, Andrew Sachs.

Neil Gaiman is author of the greatest graphic novel series of all time, the 9 books of the Sandman, where he introduced us to the family of the Endless: Destruction, Destinty, Dream, Death, Despair, Desire and Delirium – Dream and Death dressed in a gothic style reminiscent of the Cure.

Gaiman has become famous however more for his novels, some of which have made their way to cinema like Stardust and the new Coraline. His novels aren’t quite up the standard of his comics though, appealing to a slightly dumber audience which makes them perfect for the big screen.

Neil Gaiman’s Twitter feed is pretty personal, answering queries from fans and relating little incidents with his family.

Paulo Coehlo is a Brazilian writer from Rio de Janeiro who made the big time with book, The Alchemist, which quickly became a New Age classic due to its theme of spiritual search and the language of the universe. Think Tom Robins mixed with Richard Bach then diluted in rose water and laminated.

The Alchemist is a lot better than some of his other books, though, which contain enough spiritual platitudes to fill the walls of any middle class spiritually-aspiring home. Oddly enough, the central plot of The Alchemist is taken from an old Middle Eastern story about a man who dreams of treasure in a far off land only to meet someone there who had the same dream – but that the treasure was buried under the first guy’s house.

Paulo Coehlo writes in English on his Twitter feed and Tweets about his books and writing ideas. His Twitter bio says it all: I’m a writer and a warrior of light.
